There are indications that all is not well with the home support base of Senators Magnus Abe of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who has not hidden his ambition to vie for governorship in 2019 in spite of several misgivings that his ambition is another attempt to extend Upland rule beyond 2019.

It would be recalled that Gokana APC Stakeholders led by the National Deputy Secretary of the party, Chief Hon. Victor Tombari Giadom held a meeting on Sunday 1, October, 2017 in which a communique was issued.

In the Communique signed by a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Innocent Barikor, the stakeholders expressed satisfaction with what they called “the antecedents and vision of the Hon. Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi CON” and affirmed their loyalty to the Minister on account of his developmental strides.

The stakeholders also re-stated their loyalty, support and commitment to the leadership of Chief Hon. Victor Tombari Giadom (KSC), the National Deputy Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the leader of the party in Gokana and affirmed their belief in the unity and indivisibility of the APC in the state.

However, controversy has since trailed the Gokana APC Stakeholders meeting. The facilitator of the Ogoni Next Generation Project, Hon. Kadilo Kabari has faulted the stakeholders meeting and argued that a meeting without Senator Magnus Abe is at best baseless, saying that the meeting should not be taking seriously.

Kadilo Kabari said that “the communique read by Hon. Innocent Barikor as resolutions from a purported stakeholders meeting in Gokana is laughable, it is yet another failed attempt by conflict entrepreneurs to divide the party and avail themselves as tools for divide and rule.

“Stakeholders meeting without Distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, without Hon. Maurice Prone, without the LGA Chairman of the party, Hon. Second Bakor, stakeholders meeting when the party in Bodo is thanking God for the victory of its candidate while the party in K-Dere is receiving thousands of defectors. Anyway, Gokana members of APC know their leadership” he concluded.

It would be recalled that the State Secretary of the APC, Chief Emeka Beke also attended the disputed Gokana APC Stakeholder meeting.
