What is wrong is wrong
Most right thinking Rivers Ijaw people accepted Ikwerre governorship when it was forced on us by Odili in 2007. In fact, the support for the Ikwerre quest started in 2003 with Sergeant Awuse receiving the backing of Ikwerre and non-Ikwerre alike.
What is unacceptable is for any Ijaw person to say he/she supported Wike (an Ikwerre man) against Dakuku (an Ijaw man) to succeed Amaechi (another Ikwerre man) because they wanted President Jonathan to continue in office.
President Jonathan, his wife Patience and all the army of so-called Ijaw supporters including ex-militants and ex-agitators did not need to enslave Rivers Ijaw for Jonathan to remain as President. They could have protected both without sacrificing one for the other, considering that the Rivers Ijaw governorship was a genuine and just aspiration.
Today, we have lost both the Presidency and the Rivers Ijaw legitimate political aspiration.
It is time we unmasked the falsehood that was sold to Rivers Ijaw to deprive us of the governorship in 2015. This should be the next phase of the struggle.
Former President Jonathan and his wife who were in a position to ensure a level playing field in the 2015 PDP governorship primaries but rather supported Wike to hijack the process are guilty of enslaving Rivers Ijaw. Recently, Jonathan said that he does not regret making Wike Governor.
We take exception to the so-called agitators and so-called activists claiming to be fighting for the emancipation of the Niger Delta while condoning injustice inside Rivers State.
Injustice is injustice anywhere and there should be no rationalization. No reason should be acceptable on why Ikwerre must dominate Rivers State unjustly. No reason can be acceptable. What is wrong is wrong and it doesn’t matter who supports it.
