Provost of Federal College of Education Omoku, Commends NDDC, TETFUND for Supporting the Institution

The Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical) Omoku, Dr. Emmanuel Ikenyiri has commended the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for their support and contributions to the progress and development of Federal institution.

The Provost made the commendation last Friday while inspecting on-going and completed projects embarked upon by the two intervention agencies in the College to mark his one year in office.

He noted that prior to his administration, internal roads especially in Campus 1 were dilapidated, making driving or walking round the College not only a nightmare but disgusting, but expressed appreciation to the management of NDDC for their quick response to his appeals for help by rehabilitating the old roads and constructing new ones in both Campus 1 and 2 of the institution.

The Provost also hinted that talks are on-ongoing with the management of NDDC for the fencing of permanent site (Campus 2) of the College to prevent security breaches, stop further encroachment by land grabbers and put a halt to the activities of herdsmen who have turned the Campus into a grazing field, thereby destroying College and student’s demonstration farms.

Dr Ikenyiri who also thanked TETFUND for Constructing the on-going two -storey staff offices building and the 500-capacity ICT building, called on other companies operating in the area especially the Nigeria Agip Oil Company limited (NAOC) to come to the aid of the institution.

Projects inspected by the Provost included new internal roads, a 500-capacity ICT building, two-storey building staff office block, furnished College gymnastics building and the on-going re-grassing and other works on the College sports/convocation arena, among others.

Highlight of the inspection tour was the commissioning of the new office of the Dean, School of Secondary Education (Sciences), Lady Doris Okoroh by the Provost.

Dr Emmanuel Ikenyiri who was accompanied during the project inspection by some senior members of the College, was appointed Provost of the College by the Federal Government on 17th May, 2018 but he officially assumed duty on 4th June, 2019.
